ITS Computer Store Warranty Repair

What is it?

Computer equipment and peripherals still under warranty can be brought to the ITS Computer Store to be repaired. The repair staff will go through the manufacturer’s warranty support process and find the best solution for repair or replacement. The timelines for repairs can vary greatly and it is advised that the end-user of the broken device works with their department or ITS staff to find a temporary solution in the interim. As a best practice, it is also advised to back-up the end-user's data regardless of the type of repair.

Once a ticket is made, repair staff will check the warranty information to make sure the device is still within date and covered*. They will then schedule with the requester a drop-off/pick-up time to acquire the broken device. A temporary solution for the end-user should be in place by this point.

Repair staff will keep the requester regularly updated on the repair progress and any issues that arise. When the repair or replacement is finished, repair staff will contact the requester to schedule a pick-up/delivery for the device.    

*Please note that if the device was broken accidentally and is not covered by an accidental damage add-on to the warranty, most manufacturers will not repair it without an added cost.
