Academic Renewal Form

Overview

Students who have been dropped from LSU because of graduate-level GPA of less than 3.0, and who have then not attended LSU for a period of at least two consecutive calendar years may declare academic renewal and apply for re-admission to the university. Under this policy, ALL graduate-level work taken at an earlier date is eliminated from computation of the grade point average and cannot be applied toward a degree at LSU. Such work will remain on the student's scholastic records and transcripts, and can be considered by the department in the re-admission process, but will not be used in the computation of the graduate grade point average.

Eligibility

Eligibility for academic renewal must be verified by the Graduate School’s Office of Academic Services before this petition can be approved. It is strongly recommended that students consult with an admissions officer before signing this form.

Submission Deadline

Academic Renewal forms must be submitted prior to the start of the semester/term for which an applicant is applying for graduate admission to LSU.
