All international students must file taxes if they were in the U.S. during the tax year; even if they did not have income. For additional information about the required tax form, visit the IRS website.
International students who have income in the United States are required by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to file tax returns (January - April filing period; April 15 deadline), and they may be subject to tax withholding requirements. In addition, the State of Louisiana has an income tax for which international students must also file a return.
The campus hosts an assistance group called VITA volunteers, who will schedule available dates and times to assist students. These volunteers typically will come to campus in the spring. More information about these dates and times will be sent to students in the tax filing year.
