US Taxes & Tax Filings

Please note that International Student Services does not serve as an advisory expert on the filing of U.S. taxes.

International students who have income in the United States are required by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to file tax returns (January - April filing period; April 15 deadline), and they may be subject to tax withholding requirements. In addition, the State of Louisiana has an income tax for which international students must also file a return.

The campus hosts an assistance group called VITA volunteers, who will schedule available dates and times to assist students. These volunteers typically will come to campus in the spring (March or April). More information about these dates and times can be obtained from LSU Office of Accounting/Payroll Services, 204 Thomas Boyd Hall, 225-578-3321.
