Invention Disclosure

What is it?

If you are an LSU faculty, staff, or a graduate student and have developed a new technology, discovery, invention, or creative work, it’s crucial to submit an Invention Disclosure to LSU's Office of Innovation & Technology Commercialization (ITC). Complete all fields in the form and attach any relevant drawings or supporting data.

Upon submission, an ITC representative will contact you within 2 days to discuss your invention. Over the next 15 days, ITC will collaborate with you to develop an intellectual property strategy and potential commercialization pathways. At the end of this period, ITC will let you know of the next steps in invention management.

As a reminder, according to LSU policy, this is part of your employment duties at LSU "All University Personnel are required to disclose to the appropriate campus officer, at an early date, any discoveries, invention, and works potentially subject to legal protection under patent, copyright, or other law." Your contributions are key to turning ideas into tangible benefits for society.
